2018 EMMYS: A PROPOSAL STEALS THE SHOW AS ‘GAME OF THRONES’ AND ‘MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL’ WIN BIG!

The stars of television and film descended on the red carpet at the 70th Emmy Awards, held at Microsoft Theater on September 17, 2018 in Los Angeles.

Hosted by SNL’s Michael Che and Colin Jost, the glamorous awards show was filled with memorable moments. The nights biggest winners were Game of Thrones and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel which took home top honors for Best Drama Series and Best Comedy Series respectively. Peter Dinklage also won for Best Supporting Actor in GOT while Rachel Brosnahan nabbed the Best Actress in a Comedy award for Mrs. Maisel.

Best Actor in a Drama went to Matthew Rhys for The Americans and Claire Foy took home Best Actress in a Drama honors for The Crown. An emotional triumph came for Regina King, who was left speechless by her Best Actress in a Limited Series win for her work in Seven Seconds.

Best Actor in a Limited Series went to Darren Criss for The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story. The Ryan Murphy-helmed FX limited series was a big winner on the night, also taking home the award for Best Limited Series.

Other notable wins went to a shocked Thandie Newton for her supporting role in HBO’s Westworld and Bill Hader for his lead turn in HBO’s Barry.

But the moment of the night belonged to Glenn Weiss, who took to the stage to accept his Emmy for directing the Oscars. After grabbing his golden prize, he then turned his attention to his girlfriend in the audience who joined him on stage. As a shocked crowd including Benedict Cumberbatch and Leslie Jones looked on in disbelief, Weiss proposed to his longtime partner, Jan Svendsen, in front of millions. It was the kind of unscripted moment that producers could only dream of.

On the red carpet, our top 10 looks went to Claire Foy in Calvin Klein, Jessica Biel in Ralph & Russo, Rachel Brosnahan in Oscar de la Renta, Mandy Moore in Rodarte, Penelope Cruz in Chanel, Emilia Clarke in Dior, Millie Bobby Brown in Calvin Klein, Thandie Newton in Brandon Maxwell, Sarah Paulson in Oscar de la Renta and Angela Sarafyan in Christian Siriano.
