2018 NYFW: CARDI B AND NICKI MINAJ FIGHT AT HARPER’S BAZAAR “ICONS” PARTY!

The Harper’s BAZAAR “ICONS By Carine Roitfeld” party is “the” premiere party every year at New York Fashion Week. And this year’s party, held at the Plaza Hotel on September 7, 2018 in New York City was no exception. The who’s-who of fashion and entertainment graced the red carpet including top model sisters, Gigi and Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Winnnie Harlow.

But it was a fight between Cardi B and Nicki Minaj that stole headlines. At the end of the party, Cardi B was seen lunging at Minaj with a shoe as the two rappers exited the party. Security guards broke up the confrontation before Cardi B was escorted from the venue with a visible bruise above her eye.

The scuffle was the culmination of months of back and forth between the pair, with Minaj calling out her rival in her latest album, Queen, as Cardi B has quickly risen to the top of the hip hop game.

Cardi B took to Instagram to explain the reason for her outburst, claiming to have put up with continued taunts by Minaj.

She wrote, “I’ve let a lot of s–t slide! I let you sneak diss me, I let you lie on me, I let you attempt to stop my bags, f–k up the way I eat! You’ve threatened other artists in the industry, told them if they work with me you’ll stop f–kin with them!! I let you talk big s–t about me!!”

She added, “I addressed you once in person, I addressed you a second time in person, and every time you copped a plea!! But when you mention my child, you choose to like comments about me as a mother, make comments about my abilities to take care of my daughter is when all bets are f–kin off!! I’ve worked too hard and come too far to let anybody f–k with my success!!!!”

She concluded, “Bitches talk all that s–t in they raps but in real life they p–sy!! This s–t really is for entertainment!!”

Minaj addressed the incident on her Queen radio show, embarrassed that it all went down in front of such a high profile crowd. She said, “The other night, I was a part of something so mortifying and so humiliating to go through.”

Responding to Cardi B’s claims, Minaj responded, “I would never talk about anyone’s child or parenting. I don’t care about anyone’s parenting. I don’t give a s–t and it’s so crazy to me that people always need to make Onika the bad guy. I just want to let the world know that Onika Tanya Maraj would never, has never and will never speak ill of anyone’s child.”

She added, “I am not a clown. That’s clown s–t.”

In the year of the woman, it is sad to see these two music heavyweights tear each other down, rather than support each other. Only time will tell if bridges can be built between the talented pair.
