RAPPER MEEK MILL RELEASED FROM PRISON!

Rapper Meek Mill (Robert Rihmeek Williams) was released from prison on Tuesday.

Mill spent five months in jail for violating probation stemming from a 2008 case. The 30-year-old star ran into trouble last year, arrested for popping wheelies on a dirt bike. The 2-4 year sentence he received in November was controversial, sparking outrage in the music community and beyond, with calls for reforms in the criminal justice system renewed.

Mill’s case went all the way up to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, with his release ordered yesterday. In a statement, Mill said,
“I’d like to thank God, my family, my friends, my attorneys, my team at Roc Nation including JAY-Z, Desiree Perez, my good friend Michael Rubin, my fans, The Pennsylvania Supreme Court and all my public advocates for their love, support and encouragement during this difficult time.”

Mill went straight from prison to a Philadelphia 76ers basketball game where he was received warmly by the players and the fans.
