KENDRICK LAMAR MAKES HISTORY WITH PULITZER PRIZE WIN!

Rapper and songwriter Kendrick Lamar has made history becoming the first non-jazz, non-classical artist to win the prestigious Pulitzer Prize for music for his hit 2017 album DAMN.

The album, which gives an unapologetic and raw look at the black experience in America, harkens back to Lamar’s own roots in Compton. DAMN. is given high praise, described as a “virtuosic song collection unified by its vernacular authenticity and rhythmic dynamism that offers affecting vignettes capturing the complexity of modern African-American life.”

DAMN., which is now a platinum seller for Lamar, follows 2015’s To Pimp A Butterfly and 2012’s Good Kid, M.A.A.D City. The 30 year-old hit maker was celebrated at this year’s Grammys, picking up four awards in the Rap category, also nominated for Record and Album of the Year. Lamar recently collaborated on the Black Panther soundtrack, Marvel’s superhero film that has gone on to make over a $1.3 billion worldwide.
