THE WEEKND DELIVERS EMOTIONAL PERFORMANCE OF ‘CALL OUT MY NAME’ AT COACHELLA 2018!

The Weeknd took his rightful place as headliner on Friday night at the 2018 Coachella Valley Music And Arts Festival in Indio, California. Music revelers flooded Empire Polo Field for Abel Tesfaye’s third bite at the Coachella apple, having debuted in 2012 and returning in 2015.

With SZA performing an electric set before him with the likes of Kendrick Lamar and Trippie Redd, there was much to live up to, and Tesfaye delivered.

There were the crowd-pleasing hits, taking it all the way back to House of Balloons which first put the Canadian hit maker on the music map. “Can’t Feel My Face,” and “Starboy” featured with more recent chart-toppers like Black Panther’s “Pray For Me” mixed in.

But it was Tesfaye’s peeled back, emotionally-charged performance of the Frank Dukes-produced “Call Out My Name” from his newly released My Dear Melancholy EP, that created the moment of the night.

While belting out lyrics like, “We found each other/ I helped you out of a broken place/ You gave me comfort/ But falling for you was my mistake,” Tesfaye seemed choked up. The song appears to be about his failed romance with Selena Gomez whom he stood by when the “Hands To Myself” singer went through a kidney transplant last year.

All in all, Tesfaye delivered an assured set, now a seasoned veteran of the stage, needing no guest acts to beef up his honest performance.
