‘A QUIET PLACE’ STORMS TO THE TOP OF THE WEEKEND BOX OFFICE WITH $50 MILLION OPENING WEEKEND!

Paramount Pictures’ A Quiet Place, took the top spot at the weekend box office, surprising with an impressive $50.3 million haul. The John Krasinski-directed thriller starring Krasinski and Emily Blunt enjoyed critical praise following a successful SXSW debut. And with a modest budget of $17 million, the film is headed for substantial profitability stateside and likely overseas as well.

QUIET PL PARAMOUNT

Ready Player One settled for second place with the Stephen Spielberg-directed fantasy film taking in $24.6 million, bringing its two-week total to $96 million. Worldwide, Ready Player One has taken in a solid $394 million.

Comedy Blockers debuted in third place with $20.6 million while Black Panther added $8.7 million to its domestic haul, bringing the superhero flick to $666 million stateside. Black Panther surpasses Titanic to become the third highest-grossing film in North America, only behind Avatar and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The Chadwick Boseman-powered film has taken in a staggering $1.3 billion worldwide. Rounding out the top five was Tyler Perry’s Acrimony with $8.4 million.
