FORMER ‘GLEE’ STAR MARK SALLING DEAD AT 35

Former GLEE star Mark Salling was found dead on Tuesday in Los Angeles. Salling, 35, reportedly committed suicide, discovered close to a riverbank in the Sunland area just before 9 am on Tuesday morning. An investigation has begun into his death.

The actor was reported missing by a family member on Tuesday, when a welfare check was requested. His death comes ahead of a scheduled March 7 sentencing on child pornography charges.

Salling, best known for his portrayal as Noah “Puck” Puckerman on FOX’s GLEE, was first arrested on the shocking charges in 2015, with 50,000 images of underage children found on his computer. Salling accepted a plea deal that would have sent him to prison for four to seven years. He would also be required to register as a sex offender.

In a statement to CNN, attorney Michael Proctor said, “I can confirm that Mark Salling passed away early this morning. Mark was a gentle and loving person, a person of great creativity, who was doing his best to atone for some serious mistakes and errors of judgment.”

One of Salling’s former costars, Matthew Morrison, appeared to pay tribute on Instagram, sharing a photo of himself, Salling and Cory Monteith (who died of a drug overdose in 2013), with two angels and a sad-faced emoji as the caption.

Jane Lynch, who played Sue Sylvester on GLEE, called the death “tragic.”
