MARCHESA DESIGNER GEORGINA CHAPMAN LEAVES HUSBAND HARVEY WEINSTEIN

It all started with the explosive New York Times piece chronicling Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein‘s decades of sexual harassment accusations. The mogul’s fall from grace and condemnation of him has been comprehensive.

And now, Weinstein, 65, who was fired on Sunday from his production and distribution outfit – The Weinstein Company, has been dealt another blow. His wife, Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman, 41, has left him following the harassment and sexual assault claims.

Chapman released a statement to PEOPLE which read: “My heart breaks for all the women who have suffered tremendous pain because of these unforgivable actions. I have chosen to leave my husband. Caring for my young children is my first priority and I ask the media for privacy at this time.”

Weinstein and Chapman wed in 2007 and have two children together — India, 7, and Dashiell, 4. The news comes as Weinstein is reportedly entering treatment for his issues.

Chapman initially stood by her husband when the allegations, which Weinstein largely denies, first came out. Of Chapman’s support at the time Weinstein said, “She stands 100 percent behind me.”

Time will tell how things will play out for Weinstein as new claims continue to come out including harassment accusations from A-list stars Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie.
