WAR IS COMING AS ‘GAME OF THRONES’ RETURNS FOR SEASON 7!

The wait is over and winter is finally here as Game of Thrones returned for its seventh season on Sunday night on HBO. And with just 12 episodes left, every moment counts.

Blood is spilled right out of the gate, with Arya incarnated as Walder, turning wine into a lethal weapon, poisoning the Freys. Her vengeance does not end there, as her next target is none other than Cersei, who reigns at King’s Landing.

Wars loom over the horizon, and the first episode of the season, ‘Dragonstone,’ sets up the main players. In Westeros, Queen Cersei is hell-bent on holding on to power, with a somewhat doubtful Jaime by her side. Power is all she has left. However, a proposal from Euron Greyjoy, armed with battleships and angling for an alliance, is rejected by Cersei. After all Cersei has been through, with no children left, and barely surviving the humiliation of her walk of atonement, she is a hardened woman, even more so than before.

At Winterfell, the Starks are still at odds, cracks between Jon Snow and Sansa widening. Sansa is in no mood for forgiveness, seeking vengeance against the traitors in the Northern houses. They should be driven out into the cold for what they have done.

But Jon is playing the long game. Peace now will yield great dividends later, with the spared Northeners making up an army that will take on the White Walkers. Sansa is old school. Traitors must be punished, and leaders must be feared. How Jon and Sansa’s relationship plays out over the season will be very interesting.

Elsewhere, we find Daenerys and Tyrion making themselves at home in Dragonstone, putting their stamp on their grand new surroundings, plotting in the map room. They are no longer in Meereen, that’s for sure.

‘GAME OF THRONES’ AIRS ON HBO, SUNDAYS, 9 P.M.
