Janet Jackson and husband Wissam Al Mana have reportedly parted ways. The surprising news comes just months after the couple welcomed a baby boy named Eissa into the world in January. According to The Mail, the split is amicable and the two are determined to co-parent with young Eissa remaining with Jackson who is currently based in London.
The music megastar and the billionaire Qatari businessman met in 2010 and dated quietly, with Jackson slipping largely out of the limelight. In 2016, the “Rhythm Nation” singer was set for a highly anticipated Unbreakable World Tour, before postponing it in order to start a family.
While the cause of the break-up is unclear, it is no secret that Jackson and Al Mana were from two different worlds, both culturally and professionally. Jackson is one of the most recognizable faces the world over, from a legendary music pedigree, known for her sexy stage performances and hits like “Control,” “All For You,” “I Get Lonely,” “Scream,” and “That’s The Way Love Goes.” Al Mana is an international businessman and billionaire who was largely unknown when he started dating Jackson.
Jackson in recent years began dressing much more conservatively, sometimes covered from head to toe, leaving some to believe she had converted to the Muslim faith of her husband. But the two appeared happy in the rare instances they were photographed together.
This was the third marriage for Jackson who was previously married to René Elizondo Jr. (1991–2000) and James DeBarge (1984–1985).
