TINA FEY TO CREATE NEW COMEDY FOR NBC!

NBC has enjoyed comedic success spanning decades, from Seinfeld to The Office, Parks and Recreation, and yes, 30 Rock. And it was revealed at a Television Critics Assn. panel that the network is looking to Tina Fey once again to bring fresh, smart comedy to the peacock network.

Fey’s success with 30 Rock, from 2006-2013, a show she created, included numerous Emmy Awards for her writing and acting work, also garnering costar Alec Baldwin Emmy wins. Loosely based on Fey’s experiences working on Saturday Night Live, Fey played Liz Lemon, the head writer of a sketch comedy show having to contend with an egotistic boss (Baldwin) and the show’s loose-cannon star (Tracy Morgan).

NBC is banking on Fey to inject her sardonic brand of comedy back into the network which has struggled of late in the prime-time comedy department. NBC would like Fey to pull lightly from her own experiences and deliver a show that is relatable and geared towards millennials.

The show will be about an woman on the rise at a cable news network whose mother gets a job there after returning to the workforce. Fey will team up again with 30 Rock writer Tracey Wigfield and produce the show with Robert Carlock.

Fey is currently creator and executive producer of the Netflix comedy, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
