‘INTERSTELLAR’: A LOOK INSIDE THE WORLD OF SOUND

Interstellar is Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi extravaganza and possible nod to one of his favorite films, Stanley Kubrik’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. Starring Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, and Michael Caine, the film centers on a team of space explorers who travel through a wormhole in search of a new habitable planet as Earth’s resources dwindle.

While critics remain divided on the film, another point of contention from both critics and a slice of moviegoers alike, is on the film’s sound mixing, with some complaining that the soundtrack is too loud, overwhelming and muffling dialogue in the film’s space sequences. Nolan for his part, has said, the sound quality is exactly what he wanted it to be in terms of the atmosphere created in the film.
