Friday night at Cannes Film Festival was all about Eva Longoria…and she wasn’t even in the movie being celebrated! Draped in a gold Zuhair Murad gown at the premiere of Le Passe (The Past), all eyes were on the Desperate Housewives star as she stole the show without meaning to. Showing a bare back to clicking cameras, Longoria soaked up the French Riviera in style. The film’s star, The Artist’s Berenice Bejo stood out in a navy blue jacket and white tiered skirt as she beamed on the red carpet. Garnering great reviews, Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi was on hand for his big night as Le Passe, the deeply human family drama of a marriage ending and the revelations that follow, took center stage. CANNES 2013: THE GREAT GATSBY OPENS RAINY FESTIVAL
It was a wet night in Cannes as rain washed in on The Great Gatsby opening night premiere. A sea of black umbrellas came to the rescue of the stars of the night; Carey Mulligan and Leonardo Di Caprio taking refuge as did juror Nicole Kidman who stood out in a colorful Dior creation. Mulligan’s low cut pale pink Dior gown still shone on the drenched carpet as Frieda Pinto tried to dodge the downpour in a beautiful coral silk chiffon Gucci gown. Baz Luhrmann lead his cast of the F.Scott Fitzgerald classic novella into the Theatre Lumiere. Gatsby comes to Cannes amid mixed reviews for its over the top interpretation, something of a signature of Luhrmann who never shies away from the extravagant. It was certainly a night to remember.

INTO DARKNESS: ZOE SALDANA GLOBE TROTS IN STYLE PROMOTING STAR TREK
Star Trek Into Darkness will take over this weekend as it storms theatres. It is the highly anticipated continuation of JJ Abrams thrill seeking and brilliant revival of a hallowed franchise for a younger generation. Into Darkness finds Captain James Kirk (Chris Pine) on a mission to rescue Spock (Zachary Quinto) and his crew who are caught on a strange planet amid a volcanic eruption. Kirk, always ready to break the rules is played deftly by Chris Pine who gets to sink his cheeky teeth into this character playing opposite Spock who is played brilliantly with a mixture of restraint and humanity by the perfectly cast Zachary Quinto.
Zoe Saldana reprises her role as Uhura and her romantic entanglement with Spock comes to the fore. Saldana stunned in a revealing Rodarte number at the Los Angeles premiere while opting for an artful Vionnet gown for the London premiere.
